SCM is providing the supplies to make concrete foundations for the earthquake survivors. While living in tents is far from ideal, the concrete foundations will give them a bit more protection from the elements, particularly as the spring rains can turn any dirt area into a flood zone. You will see in this video the beginning of the work to clear the space and then pour the concrete, embedding the tent poles into the concrete for extra sturdiness. One of the larger structures is going to be a school, mosque, and place to distribute Ramadan meals from.
Thanks to your donations, SCM is able to rapidly respond to the needs of the people impacted by the devastating earthquakes in early February. Luckily the weather is warming, but these people face a long road back to living in houses rather than tents. We will do our best to help them as much as possible. To date we have funded this concrete foundation project, solar panels and systems, tents, blankets, medicines, and food. Please consider making a regular automatic donation to our earthquake relief efforts.
