Clean Water for Students in Jordan

New water tanks at a school in Jordan
Earlier this year SCM was involved in helping a California Rotary club partner with the Rotary club in Amman, Jordan on a project to provide clean drinking water at schools in poor areas of the country. The Amman Rotary club received approval from the Ministry of Education to begin the work and funding was provided from the US to help pay for the project. The scope of the project includes repairs and/or refitting and/or re-equipping of drinking fountains in the schools. New holding tanks and filters, drinking fountains, and piping are being taken care of.
So far 13 schools have had their water systems installed or upgraded/repaired and are now providing water to the students. Priority is being given to schools in rural areas. Responsibility for the maintenance will be on the Ministry of Education, with the Rotary Club following up.
