Food Aid
Refugees fleeing war-torn areas face extreme food insecurity and malnutrition. SCM has regularly purchased food to distribute to refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, Egypt, and elsewhere, including for newly arrived refugees in Washington state. Refugees in the Middle East have had to deal with declining or the cessation of food aid from programs like the United Nations World Food Program and may not always have the ability to purchase the food they need to simply not starve.
SCM has worked with numerous food suppliers in the region to put together bags of food staples like rice, oil, salt, tinned meat, etc. to ensure that families have enough to meet the basic nutritional needs of their family.
