Help Saed Continue His Important Journalistic Work
Saed is a Palestinian who was shot and injured by the Israeli army during the first intifada. Since then, he has been paralyzed and uses a wheelchair at all times. He works as a journalist for the International Middle East Media Center. He also works to document the stories of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the Israel-Palestine Timeline Project of If Americans Knew. Saed and his wife and daughter now live in the US.
In order to be independent and be able to drive his car, Saed needs a specialized device that can lift his manual wheelchair and place it right next to the driver’s door of his car. This will allow him to go places by himself, or pick up his daughter without having to have someone else lift the chair in and out of the back of the car. The device costs $15,000 and is not covered by insurance.
Saed still has important work to do and your gift ensures he can keep telling the stories of Palestine. Please donate today to help us reach our goal to get this piece of equipment for Saed.
The rooftop wheelchair carrier is easy to use and keeps the wheelchair protected from the elements when on the car. It frees up interior space in the car and also helps to keep and dirt from the wheelchair out of the car.
We want to be sure that not only do we raise money for the lift itself, we also need to cover installation costs.
