SCM Launches Holistic Care Program for Orphans in Lebanon

SCM Medical Center Lebanon – Comprehensive Health Initiative at Dar Al Yateem Al Arabi Orphanage

As part of our ongoing commitment to community health—especially for vulnerable children—SCM Medical Center Lebanon has launched a dual-focused initiative in collaboration with Dar Al Yateem Al Arabi Orphanage, aiming to improve both the mental and physical well-being of the children in our care.

During a recent visit, our center’s manager and clinical psychologist were joined by Dr. Emad Osairan, owner of the orphanage, and Mrs. Inaya, the school principal at Dar Al Yateem Al Arabi. The visit focused on addressing psychological trauma, emotional resilience, and oral health needs, with a goal to provide long-term, sustainable care.

1. Mental Health Support: Rebuilding from Within
Mental health is at the heart of this initiative. Our clinical psychologist conducted in-depth assessments of the most urgent cases, resulting in the development of individualized psychological care plans for each child.

We are proud to share that therapy sessions have officially begun for five children, focusing on emotional healing, behavior management, trauma recovery, and confidence building. These sessions will gradually be extended to cover all children in the orphanage.

We believe that by addressing mental health early, we can help children process their experiences, strengthen their self-worth, and equip them with the tools to face life with resilience and hope.

2. Dental Checkups: A Smile of Confidence
Recognizing that physical health plays a critical role in emotional well-being, we have also begun on-site dental assessments for the children. A dentist from the SCM Medical Center team accompanied the delegation to perform comprehensive oral screenings.

This marks the beginning of our free dental care program, which includes:
• Full dental checkups
• Diagnosis and treatment planning
• Preventive care and hygiene education
• Follow-up treatments at SCM Medical Center

We believe that a healthy smile boosts confidence, self-esteem, and quality of life—especially for children who have faced hardship and loss.

Our Promise

Dar Al Yateem Al Arabi serves children who have lost one or both parents or come from homes deemed unsafe. Many live at the orphanage year-round, lacking consistent emotional and medical support.
