Urgent Humanitarian Needs in Afrin
Displaced Families and Orphans Struggle Amid Resource Shortages
In light of the recent political changes in Syria in general and in the northwest region in particular, the movement of displaced people in and out of Afrin has increased, intensifying the needs of displaced families and orphans. Many organizations have halted operations due to resource shortages and staff salary suspensions after the region changed control following the fall of the Assad regime.
There is a pressing need in Afrin and surrounding camps for support for hundreds of displaced families, many from Ghouta, unable to return to their towns since their homes were destroyed. There are hundreds of orphaned children and those who have lost their providers, as well as a high unemployment rate. During Ramadan, there is a need to provide Iftar for those unable to afford it, as well as clothes for orphans for Eid, as this is their only chance to receive new clothes.
Despite ongoing efforts by some organizations, the needs of the Syrian people in northwest Syria far outweigh available support. It is crucial for everyone who can help to come together in these difficult times to assist those in need.
Below are just a few photos from our 2023 and 2024 Eid preparation and distributions. With your help we will be able to help even more people this year. Please donate now.
