Solar Lanterns for Gaza
One of SCM’s partners will be leading a medical mission to Gaza in late January and we want to get them LuminAID solar lanterns to take with them so they can distribute them while they are there.
Gaza suffers from frequent power disruptions due to fighting and border closures that keep fuel from entering the territory. Oftentimes residents get only about 5 hours of electricity a day.
Our goal is at least 250 lanterns with the phone chargers. To do that we need to raise $7700 to be sure we cover shipping. The lanterns retail at $50 each, but as a non-profit, we can get them at a discount, and we will get as many lanterns as we can, so if we go over the goal, that just means more lanterns that will go to Gaza or to Lebanon, another country suffering an electricity crisis.
The lanterns will enable people to charge their cell phones and children can continue to study in the evenings. People will be able to go about their lives after dark.
Please support our campaign: $27.50 will get one lantern, but any amount will help us reach our goal. Remember, your donations to SCM are tax-deductible as we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
