Healing Through Compassion: SCM’s Free Medical Day Brings Hope to South Lebanon

In light of the difficult humanitarian and economic conditions affecting families across South Lebanon, and out of a deep sense of social and medical responsibility toward both refugees and residents from all southern villages — Muslims and Christians alike — SCM Holding organized a large Free Medical Treatment Day aimed at supporting the community and ensuring access to essential healthcare services for everyone in need.

The initiative welcomed more than 150 patients from different areas and backgrounds. The atmosphere reflected unity, compassion, and humanity, as people gathered seeking medical care, reassurance, and support during challenging times.

More than 10 volunteer doctors from various medical specialties participated in this humanitarian activity, dedicating their time and expertise to serve the people. The medical teams conducted comprehensive health examinations, consultations, and follow-up evaluations for patients suffering from acute and chronic conditions. Free medications were distributed to many cases according to their medical needs.

In addition to general healthcare services, the event also included free dental examinations and treatments. Dentists provided oral health assessments, emergency dental care, and awareness about preventive healthcare, helping many patients who otherwise could not afford treatment.

Several critical and chronic cases were identified during the medical day. Patients requiring urgent medical intervention or advanced treatment were transferred to hospitals for immediate care and further evaluation. Understanding the heavy financial burden carried by many families, SCM Association took responsibility for covering part of the treatment costs and medical support for patients suffering from chronic illnesses and difficult health conditions.

This humanitarian initiative was not only a medical campaign, but also a message of solidarity, hope, and dignity. It demonstrated that compassion transcends religion, background, and circumstance, and that standing beside people in times of hardship remains one of the noblest forms of humanity.

Our clinic in Sidon is more important than ever now. Please help us keep it open. Our monthly expenses are $6000 per month for employees, rent, supplies, maintenance, etc. Your donations help the people of Southern Lebanon get the medical, dental, and mental health care they need.

Container Update

Update on SCM Container Shipments and Impact in Gaza

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing to provide an update in response to recent questions about our container shipments to Gaza, as well as a brief summary of the impact your support has helped make possible.

SCM continues to coordinate closely with our Jordan office, which works in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charities to manage the handling and distribution of all donated and purchased supplies. In Seattle, volunteers help load containers at our Wallingford office—a process that typically takes about two hours. Once loaded, each container is shipped from the Port of Seattle, with an average transit time of approximately two months under normal conditions.

Upon arrival at the Port of Aqaba in Jordan, shipments are offloaded and transported to our warehouse in Madaba. After customs clearance, the goods are transferred to the Hashemite Charities’ warehouse, where they remain clearly labeled under SCM. Items are then prioritized for entry into Gaza based on guidance from the authorities overseeing border operations. Because border openings are unpredictable, supplies may remain in the warehouse until trucks can safely enter Gaza.

Many ask why we continue to send containers when delivery timelines are uncertain. While delays do occur, all shipments do reach their destination, and the need within Gaza remains urgent. Although we can send funds when necessary, purchasing items locally is significantly more expensive. Shipping containers enables us to provide far more aid at a sustainable cost.

Impact Summary to Date

Thanks to your generosity and continued commitment, SCM has been able to:

  • Deliver multiple containers of humanitarian aid to Gaza, with all shipments ultimately reaching the communities that need them.
  • Provide essential items including clothing, medicine, hygiene supplies, tents, blankets, mobility equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches), and dental supplies.
  • Support medical teams and clinics with needed consumables and equipment during critical shortages.
  • Supply families with basic living necessities during prolonged periods of displacement and border closures.
  • Strengthen partnerships with on‑the‑ground organizations to ensure efficient, transparent distribution.

Your contributions directly translate into lifesaving relief for thousands of individuals facing ongoing hardship.

Thank you for standing with us and for continuing to support those who depend on this critical aid.

Warm regards,
Rita

Support the Families of Marna House in Gaza

Help Rebuild the Lives of the Families of Marna House in Gaza

Marna House was once a beautiful guesthouse in Gaza, a place of warmth and welcome where travelers from around the world found comfort and care. It wasn’t just a hotel—it was a community. members of eighteen families worked together to create a haven of hospitality, remembering guests by name and treating each one like family through repeated visits.

Today, Marna House no longer stands. It was destroyed in the devastating conflict that has ravaged Gaza over the past two years. The staff and their families—who once offered refuge to others—are now displaced themselves. Many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even access to basic necessities like food, clean water, and safe shelter.

Gaza is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Over 67,000 people have been killed and 170,000 wounded since October 2023. More than 2.1 million people are experiencing extreme hunger, with famine declared in parts of the region. Hospitals are overwhelmed, clean water is scarce, and families are living among the rubble of what used to be their neighborhoods.

The families of Marna House are among those struggling to survive. They are resilient, but they need our help.

We are raising funds to support these dedicated individuals—people who once gave so much to others and now need care themselves. Your donation will go directly toward helping them find shelter, access food and medical care, and begin to rebuild their lives.

Please consider contributing to this fund. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Together, we can honor the spirit of Marna House and stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

Afghanistan Relief Update

Update on Earthquake Relief Efforts in Afghanistan

Thanks to your generous support, our volunteer team in Afghanistan was able to distribute much-needed aid to families affected by the recent earthquake. This week, we reached 26 families, each receiving assistance to help them meet urgent needs during this incredibly difficult time.

The only operational costs incurred were $217, which covered transportation and printing materials. All other efforts were carried out by our dedicated volunteers, who gave their time and energy to ensure the aid reached those who needed it most.

Due to restrictions imposed by local authorities and cultural sensitivities, we were unable to take many photos—especially as many women and girls are currently sheltering in open farmland without proper cover. Our team described the situation as dire: families are still searching for loved ones using only basic tools, and the only school in the area, with a few intact rooms, is now serving as a temporary refuge for women and children.

We remain committed to supporting these communities and ask for your continued help in this humanitarian effort. Your contributions make a real difference.

Urgent Earthquake Relief Needed for Afghanistan

Thousands Dead, Homes Destroyed — SCM Mobilizes Emergency Aid for Survivors

A devastating earthquake struck the remote Kunar province of Afghanistan—a mountainous region northwest of Jalalabad—on September 2nd, registering a magnitude of 6.0. Aftershocks have occurred, some measuring, some measuring up to 5.5, shaking the same area. Many homes in this region are built from mud brick, making them especially vulnerable to collapse during seismic events.

Current reports estimate that over 1,400 people have been killed, though the number is likely closer to 2,000. More than 4,000 individuals have been injured, and approximately 7,000 homes have been completely destroyed.

SCM is coordinating with trusted partners on the ground to deliver emergency aid. Immediate needs include medical supplies, mobile clinics, clean water, and food. While SCM has previously supported vulnerable Afghan populations seeking safety, this earthquake presents an entirely new and urgent crisis.

International support remains limited, so we are working with organizations capable of operating in the region to ensure families receive the care they need. We are also committed to supporting children who have been orphaned by this disaster.

If you are able to help, please consider donating. Be sure to write “Afghanistan” in the memo line of your contribution. We will continue to keep you updated on the evolving needs and how your support is making a difference.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
