Container Update

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are writing to share a critical and time-sensitive update regarding our efforts to deliver lifesaving aid to families affected by the ongoing crises in Gaza and Lebanon.

Rapidly Escalating Costs & Delays

Shipping conditions have deteriorated significantly across both response areas:

  • Container costs have increased sharply—from $2,500 to $4,000, then $7,000, and now approximately $10,000 for a 40 ft container
  • 20 ft containers are no longer accepted, reducing flexibility in how we move goods
  • In Lebanon, port congestion and administrative delays are causing extended clearance times and rising storage fees

For aid destined for Gaza, additional uncertainties remain:

  • Entry of supplies through Jordan is subject to approvals, resulting in unpredictable delays and limited access

These challenges are significantly increasing costs and slowing delivery at a time when speed is essential. Under current conditions, this approach is no longer sustainable.

Final Shipment Under Current Model

We are preparing one final consolidated shipment for Gaza using supplies from our existing warehouse inventory. To maximize impact, we are working urgently to complete procurement of remaining critical items within the next 30 days:

  • Wheelchairs (adult and pediatric) — 100 units, new only
  • Walkers and crutches (source from Goodwill or Salvation Army for cost savings)
  • Water purification tablets with Arabic usage instructions
  • 10 ft tarps for tent coverage (sun and rain protection)
  • Diapers (adult and baby) and women’s sanitary pads
  • School supplies (non-paper items)
  • Backpacks
  • Antibiotics
  • Bleed control kits
  • Survival kits
  • Emergency vitamin C packets
  • Medical supplies: dressings, gauze, gloves, disinfectant
  • Collapsible 5-gallon water carriers
  • Fever-reducing medication and rehydration solutions
  • Women’s and men’s vitamins

Immediate Strategic Shift

We will transition to sourcing supplies within the region and directly in-country.

This shift will:

  • Enable faster, more reliable delivery
  • Eliminate excessive shipping and port costs
  • Reduce delays and uncertainty in access
  • Ensure more of every dollar directly supports families in need

Your Support Is Critical Now

Your partnership at this moment will allow us to complete this final shipment while rapidly transitioning to local procurement—without disrupting aid delivery.

Impact of Your Gift:

  • $50 provides essential hygiene supplies for a family
  • $100 delivers emergency food support for several days
  • $250 equips a household with critical relief items
  • $1,000+ enables large-scale, rapid in-country distribution

Matching Gift Opportunity – Double Your Impact

For a limited time, every dollar you give will be matched, doubling the aid we can deliver to families in urgent need:

  • Your $100 becomes $200 in lifesaving support
  • Your $250 becomes $500 in critical relief

Every dollar you give today goes twice as far—helping us reach more families, faster, when they need it most. Please act now.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support and commitment during this pivotal moment.

With gratitude,

Rita Zawaideh

Container Update

Update on SCM Container Shipments and Impact in Gaza

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing to provide an update in response to recent questions about our container shipments to Gaza, as well as a brief summary of the impact your support has helped make possible.

SCM continues to coordinate closely with our Jordan office, which works in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charities to manage the handling and distribution of all donated and purchased supplies. In Seattle, volunteers help load containers at our Wallingford office—a process that typically takes about two hours. Once loaded, each container is shipped from the Port of Seattle, with an average transit time of approximately two months under normal conditions.

Upon arrival at the Port of Aqaba in Jordan, shipments are offloaded and transported to our warehouse in Madaba. After customs clearance, the goods are transferred to the Hashemite Charities’ warehouse, where they remain clearly labeled under SCM. Items are then prioritized for entry into Gaza based on guidance from the authorities overseeing border operations. Because border openings are unpredictable, supplies may remain in the warehouse until trucks can safely enter Gaza.

Many ask why we continue to send containers when delivery timelines are uncertain. While delays do occur, all shipments do reach their destination, and the need within Gaza remains urgent. Although we can send funds when necessary, purchasing items locally is significantly more expensive. Shipping containers enables us to provide far more aid at a sustainable cost.

Impact Summary to Date

Thanks to your generosity and continued commitment, SCM has been able to:

  • Deliver multiple containers of humanitarian aid to Gaza, with all shipments ultimately reaching the communities that need them.
  • Provide essential items including clothing, medicine, hygiene supplies, tents, blankets, mobility equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches), and dental supplies.
  • Support medical teams and clinics with needed consumables and equipment during critical shortages.
  • Supply families with basic living necessities during prolonged periods of displacement and border closures.
  • Strengthen partnerships with on‑the‑ground organizations to ensure efficient, transparent distribution.

Your contributions directly translate into lifesaving relief for thousands of individuals facing ongoing hardship.

Thank you for standing with us and for continuing to support those who depend on this critical aid.

Warm regards,
Rita

Every tent matters: It provides warmth, protection, and dignity for families who have lost everything.

100% of your donation goes toward purchasing and delivering tents.

Support the Families of Marna House in Gaza

Help Rebuild the Lives of the Families of Marna House in Gaza

Marna House was once a beautiful guesthouse in Gaza, a place of warmth and welcome where travelers from around the world found comfort and care. It wasn’t just a hotel—it was a community. members of eighteen families worked together to create a haven of hospitality, remembering guests by name and treating each one like family through repeated visits.

Today, Marna House no longer stands. It was destroyed in the devastating conflict that has ravaged Gaza over the past two years. The staff and their families—who once offered refuge to others—are now displaced themselves. Many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even access to basic necessities like food, clean water, and safe shelter.

Gaza is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Over 67,000 people have been killed and 170,000 wounded since October 2023. More than 2.1 million people are experiencing extreme hunger, with famine declared in parts of the region. Hospitals are overwhelmed, clean water is scarce, and families are living among the rubble of what used to be their neighborhoods.

The families of Marna House are among those struggling to survive. They are resilient, but they need our help.

We are raising funds to support these dedicated individuals—people who once gave so much to others and now need care themselves. Your donation will go directly toward helping them find shelter, access food and medical care, and begin to rebuild their lives.

Please consider contributing to this fund. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Together, we can honor the spirit of Marna House and stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

Baby Food Headed to Gaza

SUCCESS: 11,396 CANS OF BABY FORMULA PURCHASED FOR GAZA!

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Thanks to your generous support, we have purchased 11,396 cans of baby formula (472 cases) in Jordan, now ready to be loaded onto our container bound for Gaza!

Because of security concerns, we can’t share the exact departure date — but it will be going very soon.

This is a huge milestone, and it’s all thanks to you.

SCM is continuing to get clean water into Gaza, so this baby formula can be prepared safely once it arrives and we are still raising funds for baby formula because we spent a little more than was raised, and for our ongoing Gaza aid program and to support the next container. The need remains urgent.

If you’ve already given — thank you. Please help us keep going:
